Meet Cathi Perkins, Buckingham Properties new Director of Operations!  Cathi makes everyone feel welcome and always has a snack in hand!  She is focused on creating and establishing processes and procedures that will allow Buckingham to work efficiently and effectively, now and into the future.  Learn more about Cathi in the Q&A below!

Why are you excited to work at Buckingham?

I spent 2 years working with Buckingham on a big project at my previous company. I loved the people I worked with and the culture. I knew I could use my experience to contribute.  I do not remember ever being as excited and happy for my first day as I was to start here at BP.

What is your favorite restaurant or place in Rochester?

I am a HUGE foodie. Like HUUUUUGE! My favorites are either diners, or ethnic foods. Many of our properties have Asian restaurants that I am super excited to try! We have one property on the westside that has three restaurants that look amazing.  I can’t wait to go there either!

Why do you love calling Rochester home?

I grew up just outside of Binghamton, and have been in Rochester since 1995. My mom likes to say that Binghamton is where I grew up, but Rochester is my home. It is so true. I love it here; there are just so many things to do all the time. My favorite time of year is the fall, when the weather starts to change and the trees are changing.

What are a couple of your hobbies outside of work?

I am an avid hunter.  I have been on the cover of the New York State DEC Hunting and Fishing Guide!  I am also on the “brag board” at Sportsman Warehouse (so go see it!).  I could talk forever about all things hunting if you get me started.  If you don’t want to know anything about hunting, don’t get me started! 

During COVID, I taught myself to knit and crochet.  Now my kids are afraid they are getting (ugly) sweaters and socks for Christmas, which may not be a bad idea! 

Is there anything else you want to share?

To see me is to know me: I am bubbly, chatty, outgoing and generally happy to be at work. I will ask about you, who you are, what you do, and ask about your job. I LOVE to get to know people, hear their “stories” and try to connect with everyone I meet. I am an open book, and will share everything, because I truly believe that we are all put on this earth to help each other, share what we can, and pull each other up along the way. Your experiences and knowledge will help others. It is your responsibility to help those that are struggling or less fortunate, and to always have empathy and understanding of other people.
