Alex Park North

Alex Park is a development taking place on a sixteen-acre site at the gateway to Downtown Rochester, NY on Alexander Street. The first phase of the mixed-use project involved redevelopment of a 400,000 square foot former hospital campus into offices and retail, along with the construction of a new 80,000 square foot Class A office building, a 20,000 square foot medical office building, and a free-standing Canandaigua National Bank branch.

Retail Anchor Opens

The northern end of the development site is currently being developed with new construction. Central Rock Gym, a 20,000 square foot rock climbing gym opened in the spring of 2019. The 20,000 square foot facility features 45-foot-tall climbing areas and 300 linear feet of bouldering wall. Central Rock Gym operates thirteen locations in the northeast.

New Mixed-Use Building Opens

Mindex Technologies relocated their headquarters to a new mixed-use building in November 2019. The new 78,000 square foot building is located at the northwest corner of the site. A Rochester Top 100 Company, Mindex employs over 100 people, providing project management consultation. Floors two, three, and four include luxury studio and one-bedroom apartments. These units feature open floor plans and private balconies.

Completing the Neighborhood

Planned future construction also includes over 200 new modern apartments, along with additional mixed-use space, and a new parking garage.

Summary

Alex Park is a mixed-use development project on the 16-acre site of the former Genesee Hospital on Alexander Street in Rochester between Monroe and Park Avenues. Buckingham Properties completed phase one of the project in 2011, which included extensive renovation and the construction of several new commercial buildings. Phase two, currently in progress, involves several new mixed-use buildings on eight acres at the north end of the campus to complete the neighborhood.
