Construction Begins for Mindex Technologies Headquarters at Alex Park
Construction has begun on the eight-acre site of the former Genesee Hospital campus on Alexander Street. On July 13th, employees of Mindex Technologies and Buckingham Properties gathered on the site to celebrate the construction kick-off of the future headquarters building of Mindex. The new 78,000 square foot building on the corner of Alexander and Tracy Streets will house Mindex on the ground floor, while upper floors of the building will include forty-eight studio and one-bedroom apartments with contemporary finishes and outdoor patio space. Occupancy is scheduled for next summer.
Marc Fiore, President of Mindex Technologies believes the move to Alex Park will allow Mindex employees to enjoy the energy and excitement of downtown.
“This space is exactly what we’ve been looking for as it gives us the room to grow in a brand new building in a great part of the city. We wanted to be close to downtown and all the amenities of the City that appeal to our employees. We believe it will be easier to attract new talent and are proud to be a part of the dynamic growth taking place right now in Rochester.”
At the opposite end of the development site, ground has also been broken for the construction of Central Rock Gym. Located near Averill Avenue, the 20,000 square foot rock climbing facility will feature 45-foot-tall climbing areas, 300 linear feet of bouldering wall and a dedicated kid’s area. Central Rock Gym is scheduled to open by the end of this year.
As the project progresses, two additional new buildings along Alexander Street are targeted for street-level retail to enhance the neighborhood. Construction of these buildings will begin in 2019. These buildings add an additional 200+ residential units, including one and two bedrooms, as well as 500 square foot studios known as “micro-units.”
“We felt a synergy with Mindex from the beginning of our discussions,” said Richard Finley, President and CEO of Buckingham Properties. We are excited to strategically partner to bring their new headquarters to Alex Park and to see the long-awaited project come to fruition.”
